Bhujodi Weaves
Bhujodi, a 500 years old small village, located in Gujrat is one of the major textile hubs located in the region. “Bhujodi weaving” or “Kutch weaving” as it is famously known originated here in this tiny village. The master craftsmen weavers here are known as “Vankars” and they weave one of the finest hand-woven traditional Kutchi shawls, sarees, stoles and blankets. The famous “Kutchi shawls” have received the GI (Geographical Indication) tag.

The highlight of the weave is the fine geometrical motifs like Chomukh, Dhunglo (represents mountains) arranged aesthetically on naturally dyed fabric of fine cotton or wool. The weaving of these textiles is solely done on a handloom, operated by hands without any electrical interference. The intricate patterns are weaved by hands, as they go between the threads of warp and weft.

A bhujodi product can take anywhere from 10 days to few months to be completed depending upon how intricate and dense the patterns are. These artfully weaved pieces of textiles have mesmerised fashion connoisseurs all over the world.
